Whanaungatanga Kohanga Reo Background

Whanaungatanga Kohanga Reo has been open since 18th April 1984 it was established by Ngā Whanau O Hemi Tapu Anglican Church, with a roll of 25 mokopuna/tamaiti, they operated from the church for a few years and due to some defects within the ceiling (acoustics) it meant that we would loose our license, hence the reason to relocate the kohanga to the Te Rapa Air force base.
In 2005 we had to vacate the premises to make way for the Tainui Plan, we then relocated to our current premises which is the old Richmond Park Primary School in Bader Street Melville, on month to month lease with MOE.
We are now license for 21 mokopuna/tamaiti, 3 Kaimahi, 1 Kai-whakahaere, and 1 Kaiako, with Kaumatua/Kuia.
